If you live in Fairhope, Daphne, Spanish Fort or Mobile, you’ve probably seen the ads for laundry apps by now. Poplin, Hamperapp, HappyNest. Download, tap a button, leave a bag on the porch, and somebody brings it back clean.
Booking is the easy part, and Everly’s app works the same way. But you’re handing over your kids’ school clothes, your work shirts, the sheets you sleep on. It’s worth knowing who actually washes them.
Here’s the short version: at Everly, your laundry never leaves our hands. We pick it up, wash it in our own facility on commercial equipment, fold it with our own team and bring it back. Nobody else touches it.
How those services actually work
These three get lumped together, but none of them is a laundry company in the traditional sense. Each is a booking platform that hands your order to someone else to wash.
Poplin. Orders go to independent contractors Poplin calls Laundry Pros, who, per Poplin’s own description, do the work from home on their own machines. An algorithm decides who gets your bag, so it may not be the same person twice. Poplin’s help pages also say Laundry Pros don’t treat stains and won’t take laundry with excessive pet hair.
Hamperapp. A Miami-based marketplace that doesn’t run its own laundry. It connects customers to partner laundromats and dry cleaners and takes a cut of each order, so who washes your clothes depends on which partner is near you.
HappyNest. The most structured of the three. It says it uses commercial equipment and employees rather than gig workers, which is a real step up. But it’s still a national brand on top of local laundromat partners: the partner washes and delivers, and HappyNest runs the app and the accounts.
| Service | Who washes your laundry | Where it’s washed |
|---|---|---|
| Poplin | Independent contractors | The contractor’s home |
| Hamperapp | Partner laundromats and dry cleaners | Whichever partner shop takes the order |
| HappyNest | Local laundromat partners | The partner’s laundromat |
| Everly | Everly’s own team | Everly’s facility in Saraland |
What “in-house” means at Everly
Everly is a local laundry company with its own facility in Saraland, serving Mobile and Baldwin County. Most families know us through Everly Concierge, our pickup and delivery service. We also run a commercial linen service for businesses and rentals across Baldwin County, and your household laundry goes through the same facility and the same team.
You book through the Everly app, just like the others. What happens next is the difference:
Our drivers collect your laundry.
Washed and dried in our facility on commercial machines.
Our staff sort, treat, fold and pack it.
Our drivers bring it back to your door.
If something isn’t right, you’re talking to the people who actually did the work, and they can fix it.
Get your weekends back
Schedule wash and fold pickup in Fairhope, Daphne, Spanish Fort or Mobile through the Everly Concierge app.
Why that matters for your everyday laundry
You know who has your clothes
When a bag goes to whoever accepts the order next, you’re trusting a stranger with your family’s things, in a home you’ve never seen. With Everly, every load is handled by people who work for us, in a facility we run.
Stains get looked at
Grass on baseball pants, makeup on a pillowcase, spaghetti sauce on a work shirt. If nobody checks for stains, they go through the dryer and set for good. We inspect and treat as part of the process, not as an extra.
Pet hair and sand aren’t a problem
If you’ve got a dog, or you spend your weekends at the bay or the beach, your laundry comes with a little extra. A service that turns away laundry with heavy pet hair, as Poplin’s terms allow, isn’t much help to a lot of families on the Eastern Shore.
It comes back the same way every week
When orders go to whichever contractor or partner is next in line, you get a different set of hands, machines and habits each time. With one team running one process, your towels come back folded the same way and your clothes smell the same way, week after week.
There’s someone local to call
With a platform, a problem usually means a support ticket to a company that wasn’t there when your laundry was washed. With Everly, you call a local number and talk to people right here in Mobile County who know your account.
To be fair to the others
These services have their place. If you’ve got a bag of t-shirts and jeans and just want it gone by tomorrow, any of them can do the job. HappyNest in particular has raised the bar over pure gig models.
But “fine for a bag of gym clothes” and “trusted with everything my family wears” are two different standards. The more your clothes matter to you, the more it matters who’s actually washing them.
Questions to ask any laundry service
Whether you go with us or someone else, ask these before you hand over a single bag:
- Who actually washes my laundry, your employees or a third party?
- Where is it washed: a facility, a laundromat or someone’s home?
- Will the same company handle my laundry every time?
- Do you check for and treat stains?
- If something goes wrong, who do I call, and are they local?
If the answers are vague, that tells you something.
At Everly, the answer to every one of those questions is us. Our team, our facility, our drivers.
